Shimon Avny, n\u00e9 Sztajn, voit le jour \u00e0 Paris en d\u00e9cembre 1932. Ses parents sont tous deux originaires de Pologne, de Kutno. Ils arrivent \u00e0 Paris en 1928 pour chercher du travail. Ils sont tailleurs. Ils s\u2019installent, rue Rampeneau \u00e0 Belleville. Shimon se souvient de la machine \u00e0 coudre sur la table de l\u2019unique pi\u00e8ce de l\u2019appartement. La famille vit mis\u00e9rablement : les toilettes sont sur le palier et on va prendre une douche une fois par semaine aux douches municipales. Son fr\u00e8re, Henry na\u00eet en 1938. L\u2019\u00e9cole et le commissariat de police sont au bout de la rue. Quand les Juifs sont appel\u00e9s \u00e0 venir se faire recenser, le p\u00e8re de Shimon y va. Pour lui, en tant qu\u2019\u00e9tranger, il faut \u00eatre \u00ab correct \u00bb et respecter les ordres. Mais Shimon se souvient d\u2019avoir demand\u00e9 \u00e0 son p\u00e8re pourquoi il y allait. Puis \u00e9tape par \u00e9tape, la situation des Juifs se d\u00e9grade : rationnement, port de l\u2019\u00e9toile jaune, dernier wagon de m\u00e9tro r\u00e9serv\u00e9 aux Juifs etc\u2026<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Quand les hommes juifs sont forc\u00e9s de travailler pour les Allemands, le p\u00e8re de Shimon est arr\u00eat\u00e9 et envoy\u00e9 \u00e0 Pithiviers. Il se rappelle ses visites chez son p\u00e8re. La premi\u00e8re fois, il avait jou\u00e9 avec les plus jeunes des intern\u00e9s dans le camp. Lors d\u2019une autre visite, Shimon se rend compte qu\u2019il y a beaucoup moins de jeunes, peut-\u00eatre la moiti\u00e9 de ce qu\u2019il y avait avant. Il demande \u00e0 son p\u00e8re o\u00f9 ils sont. Il lui r\u00e9pond, qu\u2019ils se sont \u00e9vad\u00e9s. \u00ab Mais alors, demande Shimon, pourquoi toi, tu ne t\u2019\u00e9vades pas aussi ? \u00bb. A Paris, la vie devient tr\u00e8s difficile pour Shimon, Henry et leur m\u00e8re. Mais il garde le souvenir heureux, vers l\u2019\u00e2ge de six ans, d\u2019une maitresse d\u2019\u00e9cole qui demande \u00e0 ses \u00e9l\u00e8ves de dessiner un coq. Or, lui n\u2019en a jamais vu. Il en dessine toutefois un avec beaucoup de couleurs, ce qui lui vaut des bons points de la part de la maitresse qui aime beaucoup.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
